SourceCode fills the industry gap for a new class of technology partner focused on co-design and engineering-led custom solutions for an intelligent infrastructure—from device to datacenter.

Since its founding in 1992, SourceCode has been a pioneer of custom and co-designed infrastructure solutions. Having implemented thousands of solutions and delivered over a million edge devices, it has built the necessary engineering and manufacturing practices and business processes to serve the growing market for such solutions.

Today, SourceCode is a global IT technology partner for a broad range of organizations, optimized for traditional or new applications in such areas as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), high performance computing (HPC), decentralized “Web3”, and immersive games and metaverse. SourceCode is headquartered in Norwood, MA with additional production facilities in Milford, MA and London, UK; engineering, technical sales and service are located in the US and UK.

History

1992 - 1998

  • SourceCode was founded as a custom software development company focusing on educational and environmental software solutions.
  • Added hardware solutions to better meet client needs.
  • Became one of the largest computer component distributors in New England.
  • Developed technology and channel relationships that exist to this day.
  • Formed a distribution division to help get its products to clients.

1998 - 2010

  • A manufacturing division was formed to build a full range of custom IT solutions.
  • Embarked on an aggressive expansion strategy to broaden its capabilities and reach.
  • Developed a standardized set of processes to integrate and strengthen acquired companies.
  • Pioneered use of digital tools to enhance customer experience.
  • Created a state-of-the-art online hardware configurator and an industry-leading portal for designing custom computing solutions.
  • Instituted a set of highly flexible manufacturing processes; achieved International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2015 manufacturing quality standards compliance.
  • Implemented an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) to make its employees shareholders and more aligned to organizational success.

2010 - 2018

  • Moved away from distribution to focus on providing fully customized computing solutions.
  • Continued growth through acquisitions.
  • Expanded advanced technology offerings (enterprise servers and storage solutions).
  • Expanded services offerings (scalable managed services, telephony solutions, and IT transitional services for private equity companies focusing on the energy sector).
  • Established centralized helpdesk support in Western Massachusetts.

2018 – 2021

  • In 2018, SourceCode was acquired by JMC Capital Partners, allowing the company to expand its capabilities and grow more aggressively through complementary acquisitions.
  • Acquisitions on the West Coast bring new design capabilities to the company and give it coast-to-coast presence in the US and Canada.
  • Centralized manufacturing in MA.
  • Increased engineering competency to support growth in AI, storage, graphics processing unit (GPU) computing, and big data use cases.
  • Established a new Edge Computing division and bolstered with acquisitions.
  • Inaugurated a multimillion-dollar state-of-the-art rack room facility at its Norwood, Massachusetts, engineering service center.
  • Launched operations in Europe via a strategic acquisition, leading to both an expansion of SourceCode’s product portfolio and infrastructure support.

2021 – Present

  • In 2021, SourceCode was acquired by Cerberus Capital Management, a global leader in alternative investing with approximately $60 billion in assets, to enable the company’s vision to be a global provider of next generation intelligent infrastructure from device to datacenter.
  • Taking a cue from leading-edge customer use cases, intensified investments in new technologies such as AI, HPC, decentralized protocols/Web 3, and gaming/metaverse, and emerging customer requirements around co-creation and co-design.
  • Bolstered sales and service for federal government, industrial automation, HPC/AI, and Healthcare and Life Sciences.
  • Expanded the scale, breadth, and depth of engineering and design capabilities within the company.

Acquired and integrated key competitors on the West Coast, centralizing manufacturing and integrating sales and systems

Increased its engineering competency to support growth in AI, storage, graphics processing unit (GPU) computing, and big data use cases

Expanded its offerings for the cloud and edge by acquiring and integrating a new edge division
